Our Mission

TAX WORK IS PEOPLE WORK

WHILE TAX TIME IS ABOUT HELPING A CLIENT REPORT A YEAR'S WORTH OF THEIR FINANCIAL LIFE, IT'S ALSO ABOUT CATCHING Up, DISCUSSING WHAT'S ON THE HORIZON FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, AND CONSIDERING HOW TO PREPARE.

Tom Lupori, Founder

In 1995, after serving as an IRS Special Enforcement Agent for more than 30 years, Tom left the government to join Ron Henrickson, a friend and former Special Agent with the IRS, in establishing Henrickson & Lupori, a firm that advocated on behalf of taxpayers throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Henrickson & Lupori, for more than a decade, advanced the rights of taxpayers—entrepreneurs, small business owners, and professionals—against a backdrop of increasingly complex tax laws and to meet the ever-evolving needs of taxpayers.

Following Ron's retirement in 2008, Tom and his stepson, Nick, formed Lupori & Associates, a firm focused on maintaining client relationships, meeting each taxpayer’s planning and filing needs, and offering trusted tax consultation and, when necessary, advocacy and representation. The cornerstone of Lupori & Associates’s philosophy, though, is the belief that, as Tom always insisted, “tax work is people work”; if you don’t know your clients as people, as families, then you won’t learn about their needs or how to help them plan for the future.

At its present location, near the heart of downtown Walnut Creek, Lupori & Associates has served the community, and the Greater Bay Area, for more than 10 years.

Nick Cornell, associate

Upon devoting himself to full-time tax work, soon after receiving his Master's from San Francisco State University, Nick quickly realized that the unpredictability of real-world business and financial dealings has no correlation to the neat problem sets of the taxation textbook. Bringing over 15 years of real-world experience and tax expertise, Nick has made a career of assisting individuals, small businesses, and other business entities in tax planning and tax minimization.

Outside of the filing season, Nick lends his tax knowledge and know-how to attorneys and larger accounting firms throughout the Bay Area, all of whom require specialized assistance in representing a client’s interests within a variety of tax disputes and controversies. His ability to analyze financial data and shape a client’s business dealings to meet the demands of taw law and reporting requirements keeps him busy when not under the crush of tax season.

Nick is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents and the California Society of Enrolled Agents. Nick is an active member of his community through various non-profit organizations devoted to wilderness conservation and animal welfare. When not working, Nick enjoys spending time with his family, going on hikes with his dog, Sonny, and fly fishing on the rivers that flow from Mt. Shasta.
